È un tipo piuttosto raro di meteorite: il Meteoritical Bulletin Database elenca 428 esempi di questo tipo al 19/11/2020. Il più grande meteorite lunare classificato è quello classificato come Africa nordoccidentale 12691 (NWA 12691), una singola roccia del peso di 103,8 kg trovata nel gennaio 2017 nella regione di confine Sahara occidentale/Algeria
Il frammento in fotografia è una piccola parte del meteorite originale (12,2 g) catalogato sul Bollettino Meteoritical MB 102 con la codifica Nothwest Africa 7986 (NWA 7986). È una breccia feldspatica.
La composizione minerale vede come componenti l'olivina, l'ortopirosseno, la pigeonite, l'augite, l'anorthite, l'ilmenite e la troilite.
Il meteorite originale è stato acquistato da Stefan Ralew nel giugno 2013 da un rivenditore marocchino al Ensisheim Show.
In tutto il mondo ci sono circa 615 kg di meteoriti lunari e solo pochi di loro sono disponibili sul mercato per i collezionisti.

Nuova ripresa con il Newton 200 F4, secondo me uno dei migliori telescopi per astrofotografia di fascia di prezzo medio bassa.
Ottima risposta dei colori, sono venuti fuori in post-produzione senza fare troppa fatica, anche l'alone intorno a M57 è stato da subito evidente.
